AI agent suite for control rooms

January 2026 News & Events, Surveillance, AI & Data Analytics

Visionplatform.ai announced the public launch of its new Visionplatform.ai Agent Suite for Milestone XProtect, bringing on-premises GenAI and AI agents directly into Milestone-powered control rooms.

The Agent Suite extends traditional video management by adding reasoning, context and assisted decision-making on top of existing video analytics and events — without sending video to the cloud.

Control room operators are facing an increasing volume of video streams, alerts, and connected systems. While video analytics has improved detection, operators are still required to interpret incidents, search footage, consult procedures and take the right action under time pressure. The visionplatform.ai Agent Suite addresses this challenge by introducing three tightly integrated AI agents within the Milestone XProtect platform.

Visionplatform.ai VLM Agent (on-premises GenAI) : A Vision Language Model that fundamentally changes how control rooms interact with video. Instead of searching footage based on predefined object classes or rigid detection rules, the VLM transforms video and audio into a semantic, text-based understanding of events. This allows operators to search across cameras and timelines using natural language to identify behaviours, human actions, patterns and anomalies even when no explicit model was trained for them. The result is a fine-grained forensic search, faster incident reconstruction and a new level of operational insight, all delivered on-premises without video leaving the customer environment.

Milestone VMS AI Agent: This agent unlocks Milestone XProtect as a real-time data source for AI agents. It provides structured access to events, metadata, bookmarks, camera states, rules and device information through the Milestone API, making XProtect the central nervous system for AI-driven workflows.

Visionplatform.ai Control Room AI Agent (beta) : An orchestration layer that combines Visionplatform events, VLM-generated context, control room software and Milestone XProtect data to actively support control room operations.

In addition to video integration, the Control Room AI Agent interfaces with the complete control room software suite, including access control systems, alarm and incident management platforms, building management systems, and operational databases. These connections allow AI agents to utilise real-time data from multiple sources, enabling advanced reasoning across systems. This supports operators by providing search capabilities, tailored recommendations, and coordinated actions within a unified control room environment.

The visionplatform.ai Agent Suite is designed for enterprise and critical infrastructure environments where data sovereignty, latency and reliability are essential.

• Fully on-premises deployment.

• No video streamed to the cloud.

• Compatible with existing Milestone XProtect installations.

• Runs on systems as little as two GPUs.

“This collaboration shows how AI agents and GenAI can elevate video management systems into true decision-support platforms for control rooms. With virtualworkforce.ai, another group company of visionplatform.ai, we already operate AI agents at scale, handling more than 500,000 emails per week in mission-critical business processes. We are now bringing that same proven AI agent architecture for control rooms and operational experience into Milestone-powered control rooms,” said Koen de Jong, founder & CEO of visionplatform.ai.

“By leveraging Milestone’s open platform, partners and customers can extend their XProtect environments with advanced, on-premises AI capabilities, while maintaining full control over their data,” said Roy Band, community manager at Milestone Systems.
