From the editor's desk: An end and a beginning

Issue 8 2021 News & Events

Andrew Seldon, Editor.

Welcome to the final regular issue of Hi-Tech Security Solutions for 2021. In some ways this year has flown by, but in others it has been a never-ending slog. There are few people I know who are sad to see the end of this year, although I’m sure there are some, somewhere.

While this is the final issue of Hi-Tech Security Solutions for 2021, you will notice that it is also the beginning of a new handbook, the Smart Cybersecurity Handbook 2022, which is included with Issue 8. This handbook is meant to be a starting point, so we don’t delve into too much detail in any particular area, except ransomware which is a pandemic of its own.

Due to the subject matter, we are also sending the handbook to an additional number of decision-makers apart from our Hi-Tech Security Solutions readers, simply because everyone is impacted by cybersecurity or the lack thereof these days. We don’t want a ‘me-to’ publication, but something useful, so I would appreciate any comments and criticisms about the publication that will help us plot a useful course for future handbooks on the topic, so feel free to let me know on [email protected].

The work for the year isn’t over, sadly. We are now working on the Access & Identity Management Handbook 2022, which will be published in the second part of January to avoid it getting lost in the December break. It’s quite staggering to think about how access control has changed over the years and is also caught up in the world of AI, analytics and business optimisation. Even cybersecurity products are being used for expanded data insights to optimise non-cyber operations.

However, now is the time to thank all our readers, advertisers and event sponsors of the past year for your support. We will be seeing some changes gradually taking shape in the new year, which is always exciting. Personally, my thanks goes out to the Hi-Tech Security Solutions’ team for their hard work during the year.

Everyone at Hi-Tech Security Solutions wishes you a safe, relaxing and enjoyable break over December, as well as a safe and prosperous 2022.
