ViRDI Africa issues new warranty

1 November 2018 News & Events, Access Control & Identity Management

Virdi Distribution SA (ViRDI Africa) has announced the release of its updated Warranty Policy effective December 2018. The updated Warranty Policy incorporates new warranty periods on components in ViRDI devices and optional extended warranty periods for qualifying system integrators and installers.

All devices bought after 1 January 2018 now have a 10-year limited factory warranty on the optics or Fingerprint Scanning Module embedded in those devices. This warranty covers the platen, lenses, internal lighting, optical capture devices, PCB, outer casings or the complete Fingerprint Module construction and is applicable on the following devices: AC2000, AC2100P, AC2200, AC5000P, AC5100 and AC7000 or derivatives of the devices and any new devices released to market after this date.

Due to requests from system integrators and installation companies, as well as changing requirements from the public / private sector regarding warranty periods, ViRDI Africa has made available an optional extended 24-month warranty for qualifying system integrators and installers that will extend the standard 12-month factory warranty to a 36-month extended factory warranty. To qualify for the extended warranty, participating system integrators and installers must comply with the following conditions:

All technician/installers employed by the system integrator/installer must have completed the ViRDI Certified Technical Installation training.

• The system integrator/installer must have at least 12 months experience in installing ViRDI.

• All technicians/installers employed by the system integrator/installer must attend an annual ViRDI Technical Installation refresher course.

• The technicians/installers involved with the installation where the extended warranty is required must have obtained their ViRDI Certified Technical Installer training certificate within 12 months of the site being installed and commissioned.

• The site where the extended warranty is required is registered with ViRDI Africa.

• The installation complies or exceeds ViRDI Best Practice installation guidelines as presented during the ViRDI Certified Technical Installer training.

• The installation may be subject to ViRDI inspection.

• The extended warranty is non-transferable. Should the original system integrator or installation company no longer be responsible for service and maintenance of the site, the new parties responsible will have to apply for the remainder of the extended warranty.

• The extended warranty is subject to the standard ViRDI Warranty Policy.

• The extended warranty does not incorporate third-party systems.

Dates and venues for ViRDI Certified Technical Training and ViRDI Technical Refresher courses will be made available through the company’s distribution partners, media channels and on the Virditech website.
