Facilities Management Expo brings smart, secure operations to the Cape

Issue 4 and 5 2025 News & Events, Facilities & Building Management

As organisations across South Africa navigate the challenges of ageing infrastructure and increased cyber-physical risks, integrated facilities management (FM) solutions have become critical to ensuring operational resilience. From 21 to 23 October 2025, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) will host the Western Cape debut of Facilities Management Expo, co-located with Securex South Africa, A-OSH EXPO, and Firexpo.

This marks the first time the four well-established shows will be staged in the Western Cape, offering a strategic opportunity for regional facility and operations professionals to explore leading products, services, and insights under one roof.

Addressing the IT/OT convergence challenge

One of the biggest risks to business continuity today is the disconnect between legacy operational technology (OT) systems and modern information technology (IT) infrastructure. In sectors like manufacturing, utilities, logistics, and retail – which dominate the Western Cape’s economic footprint – this misalignment can open the door to devastating cyber vulnerabilities.

Facilities Management Expo 2025 will spotlight solutions that bridge this divide, showcasing smart building technologies, energy management tools, access control systems, and cloud-integrated platforms that unify building operations with cyber resilience.

“Facilities management is no longer just about maintenance and cleaning contracts; it is about visibility, compliance, and control in real time,” says Mark Anderson, portfolio director at Specialised Exhibitions, a division of Montgomery Group. “With the Western Cape’s focus on tech-led development and smart infrastructure, this expo comes at exactly the right time.”

What is driving FM in the Western Cape?

The province’s growing population, infrastructure investment, and reputation as a leader in the green economy have driven interest in sustainable building operations, IoT-enabled facilities, and integrated safety and security systems. Government and private sector initiatives, such as the City of Cape Town’s Smart Facility Plan and energy efficiency targets, are accelerating demand for tech-enhanced FM tools.

Visitors to the expo can explore everything from energy-efficient lighting and HVAC automation, to smart metering, cloud-based FM platforms, robotics for cleaning and maintenance, and hybrid work solutions that optimise physical space usage.

For suppliers, integrators, and service providers in the FM space, taking a stand at Facilities Management Expo Western Cape offers direct access to a growing market, hungry for efficient, sustainable, and secure operational solutions.

“Exhibitors will benefit from high visibility in a fresh, focused setting, engaging face-to-face with procurement professionals, operations managers, facilities consultants, and public-sector decision-makers. With thousands of qualified visitors expected from across the region, it is a chance to demonstrate value, build leads, and position your brand at the forefront of the province’s infrastructure evolution,” says Anderson.

Key show highlights

Alongside the exhibitor showcase, Facilities Management Expo attendees can benefit from:

• Live product demonstrations that bring next-generation FM tools to life.

• Networking zones for professionals to engage directly with suppliers, consultants, and peer organisations.

“The Western Cape is ready for more connected, efficient, and cyber-aware facilities. Whether you are responsible for campuses, healthcare sites, warehouses, or office parks, this expo offers a direct path to innovation, insight, and supplier engagement.
