Meet your ESDA member: Service excellence with added value

June 2014 Associations

Charles Elvey Agencies opened doors for trade on the 1st of November 1946 as a small independent agent responsible for the distribution of electronic and electric components – enamelled wire, insulation material, components to the lighting industry, rivets and other fasteners, on behalf of various British based manufacturers.

During 1981, Elvey identified the security industry as a promising target market. From 1996, security was the prime focus of the company and it rapidly grew to its present market leadership status. Additional security products were introduced to the local market by way of importation from all parts of the world.

Elvey successfully listed as Elvey Security Technologies (Pty) Ltd, on the main board of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) in May 1999. In February 2001, the JSE listed company Hudaco Industries acquired Elvey and the company now forms an integral part of the Hudaco Group.

Elvey is now one of the leading distributors of electronic security equipment in Africa. The company’s vision is to assist in the protection of people and property by providing quality, innovative products and solutions to the electronic security industry, thereby ensuring a safe and secure future for all.

Elvey has set the benchmark for service excellence in the security industry. It has achieved this by developing close working relationships with clients to understand their businesses and the effect of the external environment on them. The company continually evolves to cater for their unique requirements by adopting a flexible approach to their security requirements, which is both profitable and enduring for all parties.

It’s a given at Elvey that a fundamental element of selling any product is to provide exceptional service from consultation right through to on-site assistance. Going beyond the call of duty and exceeding expectations are principles understood and embraced by all Elvey staff members. Value-added distribution is core to our focus on supplying a compete service to customers.

Elvey supplies electronic security equipment for intruder detection, access control, fire protection, CCTV equipment and integration, as well as a wide variety of consumable products to complete any installation in the listed product ranges. Under licence to TAVCOM UK, Elvey offers formal, non-product specific courses on CCTV, intruder alarm and access control, system design, installation, etc. It also provides formal Elvey certified training on products and basic installation techniques, such as introduction to intruder alarms, basic electronics and CCTV system design.
