Meet your ESDA member: Local is a world leader for IDS

April 2014 Associations

IDS (Inhep Electronics Holdings) was founded in 1985 by a group of private individuals who identified a gap in the market for a locally produced and supported 4-zone alarm panel. In 2007, after successfully growing from a small operation to a locally dominant manufacturer of alarm panels, those original founders sold out to the Lereko-Metier Capital Growth Fund, which is now the current owner.

IDS designs, manufactures and distributes state-of-the-art intrusion detection, surveillance and access control solutions for emerging markets worldwide.

What makes IDS unique is its drive to identify the needs of emerging markets and deliver cost-effective solutions. Its size makes it more agile than large multinational competitors, and able to quickly move to meet customers’ requirements via, for example, customisation by market/geography e.g. Afrikaans language keypads.

When asked why people do business with IDS, Giles Calenborne, sales and marketing director for IDS says it is a combination of exceptional service, free classroom/online training and certification, a dedicated technical help desk and the company’s cost effective solutions for a tough economy. IDS is also able to keep its process stable during exchange fluctuations, which prevents unpleasant surprises for long-term customers.

Moreover, Calenborne says the products IDS manufactures are all designed for the South African environment and come with a 2-year warranty.

Specific products and/or services on offer from IDS include:

* IDS 805 alarm panel range and peripherals.

* IDS XSeries alarm panel range and peripherals.

* Range of fully integrated wired/wireless detectors.

* Complete range of intrusion consumables.

* GSC ProxLock.

* GSC KeyProx.

* GSC TimeMaster.

* GSC ProxSwitch.

* GSC MinitMan.

* GSC ProxNet.

* GSC ProxNet Plus.

* GSC ProxNet Pro.

* Complete range of analogue and IP CCTV solutions.

* AxxonSoft video management software.

Looking ahead, Calenborne sees IDS as the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art intrusion detection and access control solutions for emerging markets.
