The Electronic Security Industry Association (ESIA)

May 2010 Associations

The end of March saw another milestone in the history of the South African security industry with the launch of the Electronic Security Industry Association (ESIA), under the auspices of the Security Industry Association (SIA).

ESIA is a trade association for the professional electronic security and electronic industry in South Africa. Its membership includes and will include importers, manufacturers, distributors, installers (system integrators of electronic security technology products), consultants and central monitoring stations.

Steve Conradie, CEO of SIA introduced the new association and Anthony Rosenbaum will chair the initial interim committee. Other members of the committee include Ashley Aitken, Gus Brecher, Terry van Zyl, Conrad Lamont, Harry Zwane, Roy Rawlins, and Wessels Pretorius.

During the inaugural meeting it was decided that the ESIA would incorporate four initial chambers: Installers, Distributors, Manufacturers and Operation Service Delivery (control rooms, etc). Once these chambers are operational, other sectors will be considered for inclusion.

Rosenbaum said: “Our vision is to create a climate where the ESIA hallmark is a symbol of quality and professionalism for security buyers and industry partners.

“As the voice of the South African private security industry, SIA and therefore ESIA’s mission is to support members and encourage excellence; educate the marketplace on the value of quality and professional security; and create an atmosphere in which our members can flourish.”

Hi-Tech Security Solutions will carry a more in-depth look into ESIA in the next issue.
