Innovative theft preventer

May 2001 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

Imagine a system that can instantly go into action when your premises are entered illegally, or a system that could not only drive the unwanted intruders away but also envelope and protect all your critical possessions, by covering the area to be protected in a fine vapour reducing visibility to practically nil until help arrives.

Whilst this may sound like science fiction, it could well be an affordable reality with Smokecloak, represented locally by Transaction Control Technologies (TCT), is a security device that puts thieves and attackers to flight. Smokecloak works by filling the protected area with a harmless vapour cloud to hide the property being protected.

The vapour is non-toxic, odour-free and leaves no discernable residue after use.

The fog is created by vapourising a specially formulated glycol solution. Glycol is classified as a food stuff and is found in many day-to-day circumstances such as toothpaste and deodorants. The vapour produced is a dense white fog which reduces visibility to less than 30 cm, practically nil visibility, but which under normal usage is harmless to anything found inside industrial premises, offices and shops.

Due to the small amount of liquid required to protect a room there is virtually no residue when the vapour condenses and disappears.

Smokecloaks are fully automatic. They are switched on and off (activated and deactivated) via the alarm panel and are triggered by the alarm being set off.

During the day, when the alarm panel is switched off, the Smokecloak is automatically disarmed. The action of disarming the alarm panel electromechanically disconnects the pumps from the control electronics, which prevents the Smokecloak from making smoke even if it were to receive a trigger or signal to fire.

Smokecloak is designed to be fully compatible and integrated with modern detection and alarm systems.

Safety is paramount throughout every aspect of the design and construction of the machine. To this end the machines have been rigorously tested, they comply with all the safety standards and are CE approved.

Other features include: no high temperature exposed parts; self-diagnostic fault outputs; low power consumption; and built-in battery back-up.

To date, Smokecloak has been supplied to over 50 countries around the world and is suitable for the following types of businesses:

* One is located in an area where frequent break-ins have occurred with expensive equipment stolen.

* One has an alarm system, security gates and burglar bars and have still experienced burglaries with resultant losses.

* One deals in the manufacturing, distribution or retail of items such as precious metals, coins and valuable stones.

* One deals in distribution or retail of sought after commodities such as cellular phones, prepaid phone cards etc and you feel vulnerable.

TCT is offering the protection of the Smokecloak for as little as R357 excl VAT per month. A no obligation demonstration of this unique product is also available.
