Intelligent DVRs from Technivision

August 2003 Surveillance, Products & Solutions

Technivision recently announced that it is now distributing locally produced Cura digital video recorders to the southern African market.

Established in 1994, Technivision has experienced the full evolution of industry related technology. From switchers and quads to multiplexers and time-lapse recorders through to digital recorders.

With the philosophy of always meeting a customer's exacting needs, Technivision has, since its inception, spent a great deal of time and effort sourcing equipment that offers its customers value for money. If a new product is adopted, it either needs to be of a better quality or price or both, than existing products.

A distribution network has been set up to deal with the demand for Cura DVRs in southern Africa. Technivision is able to supply units to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland.

In addition to this, Technivision has been requested by installers for assistance with the specialised installation and programming of the DVRs. Technivision has not only undertaken to assist with this, at no additional charge, but they will also train the end-users on behalf of the installers.

Technivision has selected to the Cura range of DVRs for a host of reasons including:

* Cura share Technivision's philosophy of added value and meeting customer needs. Many of the additions to the Cura software over the last six months have been made to meet end-users requests.

* Cura has invested in developers that not only have the highest pedigrees, but also have had exposure to the security industry and thus understand the applications for which they are developing their products.

* The fact that Cura is based in South Africa has huge infrastructure advantages for the local market. Not only is development undertaken in rand terms, but also an excellent feedback loop exists from the end-users via the installers and Technivision.

The entry-level machine is the SDVR. This machine is available in 4, 8, 12 and 16 channel alternatives. The mid-range machine is known as the IDVR. This system has many features. This DVR has a smart search facility and integrates high-speed dome camera controls into the mouse. This mouse integration removes the need for a dome controller and thereby offers a cost saving to end-users. The IDVR can also be integrated into business processes such as the integration with tills. The IDVR is available as 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 channel combinations and also comes standard with a modem, network card and remote software.

The top of the range machine is the RDVR. This machine is for specialised applications. Besides offering the features of all of the other Cura DVRs, this system does realtime recording across all of its channels. Besides offering high quality recorder information that is easily retrievable, all the Cura DVRs are able to alert the end-user or help desk of any security breaches or camera failure via SMS or fax.
