Meet your ESDA member: Comb Communications

February 2014 Associations

Comb Communications is a South African manufacturing company, based in Gauteng specialising in hi-tech electronic security equipment. Established in 2004, the company has earned its stripes as a creative, dynamic and innovative company.

Graham Wild, MD of Comb Communications, says, “A big part of our success comes from customer requests and suggestions, we have built most of our products through this synergy.”

Through its partners and distribution channels, Comb Communications is well-represented in all major cities in South Africa. It targets gated communities, residential estates, apartment buildings, business parks, office buildings and many more markets that need sophisticated access solutions.

Wild adds, “Our products have become a market-leader and are well-known because of their reliability. It is because of this reputation that people do business with Comb Communications. We are not only there to sell a product, but offer support and really try to go the extra mile for our clients.”

As an example, he refers to the MKII Intercom System. This is a top-of-the-line access control system and is programmable via Comb’s secure Web application, which has played a role in making the MKII extremely popular in South Africa. This application provides administration tools designed to allow users with little knowledge of the intercom system to create and manage complexes and users’ content with ease – all from a browser.

An add-on to the MKII is the Tap-Tap temporary access PIN. This allows residents to request an entry and exit PIN for a visitor by simply sending a SMS with the wording TAP (and the amount of visitors) to the MKII-S intercom system. The system will then send the PIN via SMS back to the resident. This five-digit PIN can then be forwarded to visitors for instant access. For security purposes, the PIN will only be valid until midnight that day.

Wild says Comb Communications’ next goal is to go international and make sure that its product becomes one of the best in the world. “For us it is not just about selling an intercom, but to offer secure living and peace of mind.”
