Axis announces W101 body-worn camera

Issue 7 2022 Products & Solutions, Surveillance

Axis Communications has designed a body-worn camera that makes the advantages of body-worn recording technology available to a wide array of new sectors and markets. The included mobile app for viewing and labelling in the field makes it ideal for anyone wanting fast, easy access to video.

The camera offers good image and audio quality, with sharp images in every frame and clear audio with noise suppression. It delivers more natural colours with less noise in low-light scenes as well as enhanced contrast and sharpness, and it ensures less motion blur thanks to shorter shutter times. It also features an improved mounting area for steady recordings in any situation. In addition, voice enhancement amplifies voice content for perceptible speech.

Compared to its predecessor, the Axis W101 supports more global navigation satellite systems – including GPS, GLONASS and Galileo – and delivers improved location tracking. Featuring a large, easy-to-reach button, it starts recordings with a single tap. Additionally, it buffers up to 90 seconds before it’s activated, so the whole encounter is captured. Based on open standards, this body-worn camera offers easy integration with Axis Camera Station and Axis Case Insight, as well as with third-party VMS and EMS, either on-site or in the cloud.

This cost-efficient camera has an operating time of up to 17 hours with over 12 hours at 1080p. It charges on-the-go with any USB-C charger. Axis Zipstream technology makes it possible to store as much footage as needed without compromising video quality. The Axis W101 complies with FBI standards for cybersecurity with end-to-end encryption. Furthermore, Axis Edge Vault protects the Axis device ID and simplifies authorisation of Axis devices on the network.

Key features include:

• Always sharp video and clear audio.

• Operating time of up to 17 hours.

• KlickFast system.

• Location tracking.

• Three-year warranty.
