Turnstar’s turnstile training course

1 November 2019 News & Events

Last month, Turnstar hosted a turnstile training event at its head office in Johannesburg where it gave attendees an in-depth overview of its TITAN range of turnstiles. The attendees were given a brief overview of the company to start the day, after which they were introduced to the TITAN and its various components.

The session was launched with a general overview of the TITAN turnstiles, including the screen, rotor, base bearing, wireways and more. A distinction was made between the 3-arm and 4-arm turnstiles, with a focus on which locations they were best suited for.

The company then touched on a few additional attributes of these products, such as arm spacing, suspended rotor technology, shock absorption rubber coupling, perpetual base bearing, and the anti-trapping locking system. The overview was ended with a look at the different finishes Turnstar offers for its turnstiles, such as stainless steel, mild-steel powder-coating and hot-dip galvanized finishes.

In the next session, the company went into more detail as it looked at the TITAN’s mechanism and components, including a 3D presentation of the 3-arm mechanism. To ensure attendees learned all they needed to know about the turnstiles, the company also focused on components such as the solenoid bushes and the compression spring which ensures self-centering. The learning even delved into the power supply unit and optional battery backup, the circuit board with 11-pin base, the logic dip-switch settings, fail-safe mechanisms and more.

By the end of the course, attendees knew all there was to know about the TITAN range, setting them up, as well as different ways to run the devices reliably. To prove they had learned something, Turnstar also ran a fault-finding competition where attendees could put their knowledge to the test.

Ending the course, everyone was taken on a tour of the Turnstar factory where they were shown how Turnstar’s products are built from the design phase to the final product. The tour included the R&D; department, boom assembly and testing area, the motor manufacturing assembly and testing area, machining and CNC machining, Turnstar’s CNC laser as well as other aspects of what makes up the full Turnstar production cycle.
