GSC Systems and AIT sign agreement for asset tracking

March/April 2000 News & Events

GSC Systems has entered into an agreement with Automated Identification Technologies, where AIT's patented Link-It radio frequency tagging technology will be integrated into GSC's ProxNet access control system. ProxNet, which recently received the ESDA 'Product of the Year' award will, together with AIT's tagging technology, offers a cost-effective asset protection and asset tracking solution.

Says Erich Glatz, Marketing Director of GSC Systems, "GSC Systems used AIT's patented unique Link-It asset protection hardware to simply integrate asset tracking and asset protection into the successful and proven ProxNet contact free access control system."

The Link-it System offers low-cost, interchangeable tags with a battery life of five years, as well as low-maintenance readers which detect assets up to 10 m away.

"As soon as a tagged asset such as a PC/laptop, vehicle or person is detected near an exit point, the exit door will automatically lock. Unless an authorised card holder, to which an asset may be linked, presents his identification card to an exit reader, the exit doors remain locked and an alarm will be raised," he says.

GSC's Windows 98/NT-based management software will keep track of and protect all valuable tagged assets. A number of reports are available:

a) Listing of assets and asset owners.

b) Current location of assets.

c) Which assets are in an area.

d) Movement of assets with date and time stamp.

e) Who tried to remove assets without authorisation.
