AURA, a technology platform making emergency response services more accessible and affordable, announced the appointment of Taryn Winer as global head of people.

Winer joins AURA’s executive leadership team at a pivotal moment in the company’s growth, following its €13,5 million Series B funding round last year and accelerating international expansion, particularly across the United States.

Founded in 2017, AURA is building the global infrastructure to protect people when it matters most. Through its smart auto-dispatch and routing platform, the company enables individuals and businesses to connect instantly with the nearest vetted private security and medical responders, making lifesaving help accessible anywhere, anytime. Since its inception, AURA has saved more than 8500 lives, with 1,2 million people now connected to its personal safety solutions and over 200 000 properties secured via its fixed-location services.

As global head of people, Winer will lead AURA’s global talent and culture strategy, with a mandate to elevate performance, strengthen organisational standards, and support the company’s rapid scaling across multiple markets. Based in the United States, her appointment underscores AURA’s long-term commitment to North America as a core growth region.

“At AURA, technology is a critical enabler, but our greatest competitive advantage has always been, and will always be, our people,” said Warren Myers, co-founder and CEO of AURA. “As we scale globally, nurturing the exceptional talent already inside AURA and attracting the very best people to join us is vital to our mission.”

“Taryn joins us with a clear mandate: to help every single person at AURA reach their full potential. Her role is not just about growing the team, but about strengthening our culture, sharpening our standards, and ensuring we continue to build a company worthy of the mission we serve.”

Winer brings extensive experience leading people strategy in high-growth, international environments. Her appointment comes as AURA executes its ambitious post-Series B strategy, which includes expanding its on-demand private security response model in the United States and continuing to grow its impact in markets across Africa and the United Kingdom.

Commenting on her appointment, Winer said, “My aim is to position AURA as an employer of choice in South Africa, the United States, and all the markets in which we operate: a company which offers its employees both purpose and growth. My focus will be on creating an environment where exceptional people can do their best and most meaningful work. As AURA expands across the United States and beyond, we have a unique opportunity to build, not just a global company, but a truly world-class culture.”
