Restructuring to cater for black economic empowerment

Blick South Africa is a wholly owned subsidiary of a multinational company and embraces the principles of black economic empowerment, and the upliftment of previously disadvantaged individuals (PDIs). To this effect we have formed lasting partnerships with local service providers in our industry, refocused on our procurements policies, and continue to invest in the training and development of our employees as future leaders in our business.

Empowerment partnerships - Hlanganani Blick

Hlanganani Blick in which Blick South Africa has a 70% shareholding and our empowerment partner, Rastech 30%, was formed in 1994. This has enabled us to establish a significant presence in our industry, not only through continued support and training of our empowerment partner, but also through the successful completion of major projects within the industry. Being part of an international company and a leader in the industry puts Blick South Africa in a unique position to impart knowledge and know-how to our empowerment partner, and through our resources we can continue to do so into the future.

Training and development

Blick South Africa is a company focused on technology and service, and places a premium on the training, development and coaching of its employees. To this effect we have in place a formal and well established performance and development review process for all our employees. We participate actively in the training and skills development programme of the government, with specific focus on previously disadvantaged individuals. We also have a specific focus to develop and promote previously disadvantaged individuals in leadership positions, and although this is a long term process, we are making good progress.

Procurement policies

The objectives of our procurement policies are to promote the utilisation of locally manufactured products and solutions, to stimulate local job creation as well as the support of BEE suppliers. We place emphasis on the utilisation of BEE and SME sub-contractors, and only when they have passed our training and certification process, will they become part of our installation and support teams. Therefore we and our customers do not only get the benefit of local support, but our solutions are engineered for the local industry, are economical, and not prone to exchange fluctuations like other imported products.
