Blue Security ranked best reaction team in KZN

Issue 4 and 5 2025 News & Events, Commercial (Industry)

Blue Security has been ranked the Best Reaction Team in KwaZulu-Natal following its outstanding performance at the SAIDSA Reaction Man Competition 2025. The event, hosted by the Security Industry Association of South Africa (SAIDSA), took place on 25 September at the Ballito Defensive Sport Shooting Club.

The competition, regarded as one of the most respected in the security sector, tests participants through a series of high-pressure challenges, including live-fire shooting drills, obstacle driving, endurance trials, and physical fitness assessments. It recognises the dedication of reaction officers who play a crucial role in protecting communities.

Blue Security’s officers excelled across several categories. Minenhle Cele secured first place in the shooting event and was named Best Overall Reaction Man. Nkosinathi Gcwensa recorded the fastest time in the driving obstacle course, while Jemol Davidson finished first in the physical fitness challenge. Team honours also went to Blue Security, with Cele and Gcwensa winning the team title, and Davidson, together with Zwelithini Ndlovu, placing as runners-up. The overall results reflected the team’s consistency, with Ndlovu in second place and Gcwensa in third.

This achievement builds on a strong record of success in past SAIDSA competitions. Blue Security has previously won the Reaction Man Competition as a team, and one of its officers was named the Best Overall Reaction Man at a national level. In 2024, the team achieved first and second place in the provincial tournament, with officers also earning multiple category wins at the national event. Over the years, the company has consistently placed in the top three nationally as a team, while also collecting numerous first prizes in the shooting, driving, and fitness categories.

“These results reflect the skill, discipline, and tireless training of our officers, who are always prepared for any situation,” said Henk van Bemmelen, Blue Security’s CEO. “Being named the Best Reaction Team in KZN is an honour that recognises their skill and reinforces our commitment to protecting Durban communities with professionalism and care.”

The SAIDSA Reaction Man Competition continues to set the benchmark for tactical excellence in South Africa’s security industry, providing a platform for reaction officers to refine their abilities, while recognising the individuals and teams who serve with expertise and commitment.
