State-of-the-art security

July 2005 News & Events

Elvey Security Technologies has answered the call of commerce and industry by supplying state-of-the-art security systems and solutions from around the world, offering peace of mind through the proactive protection of people and property.

Backed by decades of experience and through the strength of its relationships with the world's leading suppliers of security technology, Elvey gives customers all the training, support and expert advice needed in today's hi-tech world.

"It is our commitment to provide the latest technology in security systems and CCTV equipment to our customers that ensures they have the best products available to maintain market leadership," says Jack Edery, CEO of Elvey.

Edery adds, "In the face of ongoing technological advancements, Elvey continually invests in research and development in conjunction with existing suppliers to source new products to maintain its leading position."

Elvey's practice of innovation continues with the release of several new and innovative security products. A team of Elvey product specialists recently visited the world-renowned security exhibitions: ISC West in the USA and IFSEC 2005 in Birmingham to source the latest innovations in security equipment.

"Elvey is proud to introduce two new and exciting products to the South African market from leading manufacturer, DSC of Canada: the VVM110 Visual Verification Module and the T-Link TCP/IP Communication Module," according to Dave Waywell, director of operations at Elvey. "Today end-users would like to take more control over their lives and to have up-to-date information of what is happening to their properties. The breakthrough IP technology and advanced communicator from DSC makes it possible and affordable for businesses and homeowners to add these latest technologies to their existing security systems," says Waywell.

In June, Telkom fulfilled its promise to reduce ADSL and data prices, with an entry-level high speed Internet access product at R270 per month. "With the access barrier to speedy Internet services lower than before, we believe that the launch of the VVM110 and T-Link TCP/IP will bring a new face to the industry," Waywell adds.

DSC VVM110 visual verification module

The DSC VVM110 visual verification module is a low cost, full colour, video picture transmission solution that helps reduce false armed response dispatches and provides customers with enhanced security through the delivery of high-quality, compressed video images to any OzVision-compatible central station.

Central monitoring stations can also use these video images to send e-mail notification of alarm events to customers' home/work computers or handheld PDAs. In this way customers can see for themselves the cause of an alarm. Customers can also keep a watchful eye on their home or business with the installation of advanced software (Visual Access Software) that provides remote 'look-in' capabilities in realtime.

By offering customers these services you open up numerous recurring monthly revenue opportunities. Service opportunities include automatic video e-mail, automatic video guard tours, video inventory reports, child watch and video e-mail notification.

How it works: Upon an alarm event, VVM110 images are digitised and compressed using advanced patented technologies to create high-quality video data packets that are easy to transmit. The images are transferred over a standard telephone or via a circuit-switched cellular service to provide customers with video e-mail notification on events.

Seamless integration with DSC's popular line of PowerSeries control panels - the PC5010 or PC5020 - is achieved through a built-in KEYBUS interface.

DSC T-Link TCP/IP

As businesses expand, the ability to take advantage of new technology and existing communication becomes paramount. Companies constantly seek new ways to improve efficiency and trim costs. The new T-Link TCP/IP communication module works within your existing intranet (LAN and WAN) to communicate alarm signals efficiently and economically to the alarm monitoring facility. Compatible with the DSC DLS-3 Downloading software, the administrator can request information from the panel, generate status reports, gather daily maintenance details (schedules, arm/disarm information) from a personal computer, at the panel location or remotely via the TCP/IP network or dial-up modem.

Constant connection to the monitoring station provides for a fully supervised environment between the module and the panel. Any indication of tampering or network connection trouble is detected by the module, which allows the administrator to respond to the situation instantly.

The T-Link solution is ideal for businesses that operate on an existing LAN or WAN network platform, for example, apartment complexes, convenience stores, a chain of retail outlets, financial institutions, multiple-site facilities, or ATM machines. Use your existing network structure to increase efficiency, and monitor your facility effectively.

The T-Link TCP/IP transmitter is compatible with the DSC Power864 and MAXSYS control panels.
