From the editor's desk: The worst of times

Issue 4 2020 Editor's Choice

While the world is going through a tough time at the moment with the pandemic and seemingly endless economic problems, Hi-Tech Security Solutions and Technews Publishing has had an additional burden of grief to bear over the past few weeks with the passing of Vivienne Dorrington, the CEO of Technews and business manager of Hi-Tech Security Solutions. Of course, the heaviest burden of all fell on her loved ones.

Many readers would have seen news of her passing online, but I thought that a short message in this issue would be appropriate as Hi-Tech Security Solutions was her ‘baby’ and her infectious enthusiasm has driven the publication for many years.

Vivienne lived and breathed Technews, and especially Hi-Tech Security Solutions. It’s fair to say that there is no part of the process of putting an issue of Hi-Tech Security Solutions together that she did not get involved in to a greater or lesser extent. She was admired and respected by all, and was highly valued and respected by those she worked with.

We have written a small obituary here, but words can only convey a limited message when considering the character and vibrant personality of Vivienne. Her legacy will be found in the company she built over the years and its continuity as a result of her placing the right people in the right positions to carry on after she was gone.

Andrew Seldon.

In addition, her legacy will be much broader than that as she will live on in the memories she created with an inordinate number of people fortunate to have known her in both personal and business capacities. She was not a physically large person, but she was unforgettable.

Her greatest legacy, however, is in the people she left behind. Hi-Tech Security Solutions offers our deepest condolences to Vivienne’s family and loved ones.

After a long battle with cancer, Vivienne is now at rest, a well-deserved rest. And despite the sense of loss, we are privileged to have had the opportunity to know and work with such a dynamic, unforgettable individual.
