Facility management system commissioned at shopping centre

December 2002 Integrated Solutions

Honeywell's technology partner, AST, has commissioned a building management system (BMS) at a shopping centre in Montana, Pretoria, harnessing Honeywell's Excel 5000 facility management system.

The BMS covers maximum demand electricity monitoring and control, as well as control of the airconditioning system throughout the centre, the fire detection system and the panic alarm system which can be activated from within any shop in the centre.

The Excel 5000 system is integrated with an FS90+ analog addressable fire detection system, facilitated by a HW XBSI located in the office of the complex manager. This enables the manager to access the fire detection and airconditioning control system on one window of his PC, with one click of a button.

Elements of the Excel 5000 system interact in any combination to meet specific integration needs such as HVAC, energy management, lighting, access control, fire alarm and security. The Excel Facility Integrator also provides a link to facility computers for information sharing, storage and retrieval.
