Southwest Microwave has unveiled the new Model 410 wide area passive infrared (PIR) intrusion sensor. This advanced wide area standalone sensor uses multilobed sensing patterns to detect intruders by comparing their temperature (heat radiation) to the surroundings. At 18 x 20 m, the 70° volumetric pattern of the 410 model is suitable for short range, wide area applications such as gates and gap filling on perimeters.

Internal temperature control and adaptive threshold decoding (ATD) allow the system to compensate for volatile weather conditions. The sensor also contains an internal heater to prevent the optical mirror from clouding in cold weather.

Model 410 expands the line of Southwest Microwave outdoor perimeter sensors and systems, including Model 405, which is a long-range PIR sensor capable of detecting movement up to 107 m.
