Baxall wins American utilities contract

November 2002 Surveillance

Baxall has won the contract to supply American company Dalton Utilities with an extensive range of Destiny ATM equipment.

Having recently installed a very large ATM network, primarily for the automation of its water treatment facilities and for future electric and natural gas automation projects, Dalton Utilities decided to maximise the use of this network and run CCTV through it.

The new CCTV system consists of 59 static Baxall Destiny ATM cameras located throughout the site, viewed in two independent monitoring stations (which are home to Destiny ATM decoders and keyboards) and 10 PC viewing stations. The entire CCTV network is marshalled by the Baxall controlling system.

The new Baxall CCTV system is used primarily to monitor remote water sprinkler heads which spray recycled water onto the grasslands, in order to prevent any overflow problems which could flood the grasslands within Dalton Utilities' vast site.

Monitoring of the deer and wild turkey which roam this site is also an integral part of the CCTV system's function. Surveillance of the wildlife is hoped to prevent some of the poaching previously experienced on this site.
