Affordable, high-end product

Thales Advanced Engineering has launched a new, high-end video management system based on its successful Kronos system.

According to the company's MD, Bennie Coetzer, the new Argus system retains all the benefits of the original Kronos system but is more affordable. "We have launched this product in response to several requests from our clients," says Coetzer, adding that the system is fundamentally the same as the Kronos except for key modifications, which has made the system more affordable.

The system's control aspects have been improved as have the different schedules and processes. The Argus system is time-schedule based enabling different daily security profiles and its improved networking capabilities and communication abilities can be adapted for both local and network sites.

Comprising the Bronte digital video recording system, the Aegis video management system, the Argo matrix and Elrond motion detectors, the Argus features significantly improved integrating capabilities.

It has already been successfully fitted in a leading financial institution's branches throughout South Africa and two systems have been sold in Australia. One is being used to control a street surveillance system and the other is being used on a large campus. There is also a likelihood that the system will be fitted in a large Australian casino and entertainment complex.
