Securex update

November 2002 News & Events

The Korean Trade Centre in South Africa has provisionally booked 200 m2 to accommodate its proposed pavilion at Securex 2003, South Africa's largest business-to-business security, safety and protection exhibition.

According to the organisers - Reed Exhibitions SA - the global interest expressed in the show to date is indicative of worldwide security concerns and possibly arises from the ever increasing number of international visitors to Securex over the past few years.

ESDA Village

Locally, the South African security industry has been characterised by a spate of mergers and acquisitions over the past two years and this consolidation is placing increased pressure on smaller companies to try and compete effectively with their larger counterparts. In order to ensure Securex 2003 offers exposure to both large and small companies within the industry, Reed Exhibitions, in close co-operation with ESDA (Electronic Security Distributors Association) has re-introduced the ESDA Village to Securex 2003. The ESDA Village will allow smaller members to participate and showcase their expertise to the same visitor profile as the larger exhibitors.

Participation in the ESDA Village allows smaller members to:

* Book a 4 m2 (2 mx2 m) serviced stand with pamphlet holder.

* Exhibit alongside the ESDA stand in specified area with its own identity.

* Brand and position themselves on the show.

* Exhibit at an affordable rate.

Any security association wishing to discuss a similar option for their members, should phone Jacqui Eggart at the Reed Exhibitions offices directly.

More good news for all exhibitors is that Reed Exhibitions' strategic alliance with Southern Sun Hotels and Sandton Convention Centre will provide specific benefits for the duration of the show including:

* Access to free secure, underground parking for exhibitors.

* Fully airconditioned venue.

* Free visitor parking in Sandton City.

* Preferential accommodation rates for exhibitors and visitors at selected Southern Sun hotels during the show period.

* Exhibitor entertainment bonus - 20% discount on selected Southern Sun hotel meals.
