Paracon aligns with international company

May 2002 News & Events

Paracon Business Solutions, a division of Paracon SA, has announced a strategic alliance with the US-based Escort Memory Systems (EMS) for the provision of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) application solutions. EMS manufactures complete read-only and read/write tags and readers and implement RFID solutions.

"We have been looking to partner with different technology leaders to offer superior products combined with state-of-the-art technology to our customer base," says Paracon director Deon Crabtree. "As EMS's software partner, we are responsible for mapping information on the RFID and integrating it into the user's operational systems. Should the user not have an operating system to make use of the information, we then do the necessary development for them."

"EMS are now poised to expand its install base from manufacturing into warehousing and retail, and its new fourth-generation RFID systems provide solutions to almost every RFID application imaginable," continues Crabtree. These include the world's first RFID post office application, the first installation of embedding an RFID tag permanently inside a pallet, mounting disposable RFID high-temperature tags on vehicles during manufacturing, and successfully embedding an RF tag within a truck and passenger tyre during manufacturing, with complete read/write facilities and end-user benefits.

"With Paracon we have already successfully penetrated the manufacturing and mining industries and are also looking to provide RFID solutions to the retail and warehousing sectors," says Kevin O'Neill, managing director at EMS. "This partnership gives end-users in these markets the added confidence and flexibility of dealing with a familiar company for their integration needs."
