Solutions the secret to success at Securex

1 August 2018 Integrated Solutions

Boxed security products are just that – boxed products – unless they can be implemented with other technology to provide a scalable and sustainable business solution. This is according to John Powell, CEO of Powell Tronics, who believes that in a market flooded with technology choices, the difference lies in how providers implement the technology in a customised manner.

Armed with decades of knowledge, expertise and experience, Powell Tronics put this principle to the test at the recent Securex exhibition. “This is our seventh year at Securex and it is very easy to fall into the rut of doing things the same way every year. However, we believe that in order to clearly underline our business philosophy of providing solutions, service and support, we needed to showcase how the products we supply are supported by the software we develop in conjunction with the leading brands such as Impro and IDEMIA, that we distribute nationally to the trade. In other words, our intention was to showcase the total solutions that accompany these products,” says Powell.

The design of the stand entailed the construction of standalone ‘towers’ – a visitor management tower; the time and attendance (T&A) tower; a tower with Powell Tronics’ Rollcall software and the Hikvision intercom system; as well as the NEDAP tower. This tower demonstrated tags on vehicle windscreens and vehicle recognition, predominantly for parking solutions, an application that is very popular overseas and is growing here. In addition, a number of Powell Tronics software solutions were connected to IDEMIA or Impro products.

In the centre of the stand visitors were able to experience the Powell Tronics portable offerings, including visitor management/access control tablets, Mustering and Quota, as well as driver’s licence scanners, together with Powell Tronics PT-GUEST, PT-Rollcall and ATOM software solutions.

Powell Tronics also used the Securex platform to promote its most recent distributorship award. The Ajax range of wireless intrusion security systems complements the current Powell Tronics access control, rollcall and T&A offering and successfully combines the benefits of major do-it-yourself (DIY) and professional alarm systems.

A smaller stand in the lobby area between the two exhibition halls provided visitors with a fun and relaxed environment where they could interact with the Powell Tronics team in a less formal manner. This was facilitated by giving visitors access to the fully-integrated Impro Access Portal and IDEMIA (3D Face and Sigma ranges) hardware running live on the stand. “Visitors showed great interest for our entire solutions offering, with a specific emphasis on both the Ajax technology and our visitor management solutions. We invite anyone who couldn’t make it to Securex to contact us so we can organise a meeting to demonstrate our solutions capabilities,” says Powell.
