Novell, a leading provider of Net services, has selected the AST Group to design, supply, install and commission an integrated security control solution utilising equipment from Honeywell Home & Building Controls.
A new corporate office for Novell in Johannesburg - which forms part of the organisation's US$241 million global operation, has been earmarked for the technologically advanced security access and perimeter detection control system. Undertaken to exacting specifications in consultation with Novell's Regional Security Manager based in the UK, the project was completed in September. "Since moving into our new offices in September, we have been very satisfied and impressed with the security system that AST have installed," says Novell's Marketing Manager, Trish Barwick.
According to Etiénne Joubert, the Project Manager of AST Vaal Triangle's Electronic Technology Services Department in Vanderbijlpark, Honeywell products including CCTV cameras, video recorders, access control equipment and intrusion alarm systems will be used to create a sophisticated security infrastructure in the Novell building. "Our technology partnership with Honeywell Home & Building Controls has strengthened our capabilities and has enabled us to provide the best in Smart Building Technology," said Joubert.
Working in collaboration with MDS Architects being the design architects and BOVIS Lend Lease being the consulting engineers, the integrated solution was planned from the conceptual stage for the entire project.
