AFS positioned for good growth

December 2001 News & Events

AFS Systems, a division of Chubb Security, are specialists in the installation of integrated fire and security systems and have successfully completed several multimillion-rand projects. The company is headed by Managing Director Mike Smiles, who is based at the company's headquarters - AFS House - in Bedford View, Gauteng. Further, AFS Systems has branches in Cape Town and Durban and through Chubb Security's South African network, have representation throughout South Africa.

AFS Systems are the major distributor of Lenel, Cardax and Sensormatic access control products. "We have successfully completed major projects for some of the largest corporate companies throughout South Africa utilising this equipment and because of the expertise developed over the years, we have now evolved to the point where our company has, in many instances, been transformed from a contracting operation into an IT solutions provider," says Smiles. Some of these installations include: Standard Bank, De Beers Consolidated Mines, BMW South Africa, Caltex SA, Woolworths and Tuynhuis.

In addition, the company is also the distributor for major international equipment manufacturers such as Ansul, Fike and Kidde. "These relationships enable us to provide total solutions for the majority of risk management applications and the commercial support and technical backup provided by our business partners ensures we can provide and maintain products and systems of the highest quality," explains Smiles.

One of AFS Systems' major strengths is the technical support provided by our Service Department which consists of 12 personnel in the Johannesburg area alone. This department has in excess of ninety ongoing service and maintenance agreements and continues to grow.
