Sensormatic Distribution assumes new identity

Sensormatic Distribution recently announced that it has undergone a change in identity, and will now be known as Tactron Technologies. The change in name has been brought about as a result of the expansion of its range of branded products, over and above those supplied by US-based Sensormatic Electronics Corporation.

Sensormatic Distribution has been acting as exclusive distributor of Sensormatic products to the Southern African marketplace since 1994. In its early days, the company only supplied Sensormatic products, but as the business expanded, Sensormatic Distribution has been growing its product range to enable it to deliver to the unique demands of the South African dealer market. The result is that today the Sensormatic range now only makes up a part of the business' portfolio, with a variety of other suppliers meeting technology needs outside of this.

Brian Hill, Managing Director of the newly named Tactron Technologies, said that the name change was perhaps overdue. "Many of our customers have for some time perceived that we only supply Sensormatic products, when this could not be further from the truth. In fact Tactron Technologies now has exclusive South African distribution rights for the full range of Mitsubishi video products (whose time-lapse VCR is now arguably the industry standard), for all of the IFS fibre optic transmission products, as well as exclusive agreements with Tenestra, UK-based developers of digital video recording systems, and IndigoVision, a specialist in the provision of embedded video processing solutions.

"Over and above these suppliers," Hill added, "we also have our own range of high-quality imported cameras offering excellent value to the local market, and in addition supply and support BetaTech products, including the extremely popular matrix. As a result, we now have a comprehensive offering of leading-edge digital products, enabling complete, fully integrated and competitively priced solutions from just one supplier."

Tactron Technologies supplies a wide range of access control, fibre-optics and video products and accessories to local sub-distributors, system integrators, and installers. Its success in the market has been built around offering well priced products, backed up by technical and sales advice on system configurations and design, as well as providing assistance with commissioning. Its technical support encompasses state-of-the-art local repair centres and individuals fully certified and qualified on all equipment supplied.

Tactron Technologies has branches in Johannesburg and Cape Town and has outlets throughout the major centres in South and Southern Africa.
