Dell EMC has announced the expansion of Dell EMC OEM Solutions in Africa, with dedicated local OEM and IoT solutions specialists available to help original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and independent software vendor (ISV) customers take their intellectual property to market faster and accelerate time to profit.

Speaking to Hi-Tech Security Solutions, Dermot O’Connell, executive director and general manager of Dell OEM and IoT Solutions EMEA said the OEM Solutions division of Dell offers one of the broadest and customisable technology portfolios. This spans speciality products like embedded systems and IoT gateways to the broader Dell EMC portfolio, ranging from tablet PCs to largest consolidated infrastructure offerings designed to deliver mission-critical workloads for critical applications. In addition to standard Dell EMC products, OEMs can work with Dell EMC specialists to develop, implement and test their own offerings for customers, from unbranded, customised hardware to high-quality software solutions.

What this means is that security innovators in South Africa and Africa can make use of Dell’s hardware expertise to package their intellectual property in a reliable hardware platform to sell as a single unit to customers. The solution will be branded with the security company’s logo and sold as their product.

Moreover, OEM partners will also be able to access Dell’s global footprint in terms of manufacturing, distribution and support, enabling them to scale faster than they would be able to on their own. O’Connell explains that instead of having to launch their own support service in a country before launching their product there, Dell’s support infrastructure could be used to offer almost immediate support in over 100 countries.

Security companies such as IndigoVision and Milestone have already partnered with Dell to deliver market-ready solutions that are built to the highest quality specifications to the global market. In fact, working with Dell OEM enabled Milestone to discover a way to manage more cameras on a single server than ever before.

With almost 20 years’ experience in developing customisable technologies, supporting global supply chain, and deploying support and services in over 180 countries, Dell EMC OEM Solutions serves thousands of customers worldwide. Team expertise in the EMEA region alone spans more than 40 industry verticals, including industrial automation, healthcare, defence and security, and connected agriculture.

“At Dell EMC, we believe that opportunities increase when you help others win. Dell has a strong history of supporting customers with end-to-end solutions and we are thrilled to be expanding our OEM Solutions presence in the region,” said Doug Woolley, GM, Dell South Africa. “In today’s highly connected world, business solutions need to keep pace with the competition. It’s now possible to maintain a competitive advantage by adopting Dell OEM’s cloud, mobility, big data, security and IoT experience to remain relevant.”

Dell EMC also has deep expertise in the Internet of Things (IoT) and the advancement of data-driven innovation and digital transformation, following years of experience of developing IT solutions and delivering Operational Technology (OT) expertise to customers around the world. By bringing in IT technologies, such as analytics and sensor technologies and combining these with operations technologies, Dell has gained new insights and taken actions to benefit customers businesses.

The team launched its dedicated global IoT division and opened its first EMEA IoT lab in Limerick, Ireland, over a year ago.

“Our capabilities ensure companies can evolve their business models and navigate today’s connected world complexities,” said O’Connell. “We have a deep history of working with customers and developing essential infrastructure across the globe – we know the type of issues they face and have specialists on hand to support them throughout the journey. By leveraging our expertise and the global support, solutions and services we offer, companies of all sizes are able to free up capital from operations and invest more in creating IP to help them compete in this fast-paced digital world.”
