Residential Estate Security Conference 2016

1 May 2016 Conferences & Events, News & Events, Residential Estate (Industry)

Estates and residential complexes are a common site in South Africa with new construction projects continually appearing across the country. The reason for this growth is that people in South Africa are plagued with a consistent criminal onslaught and are migrating to estates in the hopes of living in a more secure environment. And, of course, the hope is that an investment in a well run and secure estate will grow in value over time.

But how secure are estates really? We hear of regular criminal activities in estates despite having guards at the gate and even cameras to watch the coming and going of people.

Following a sold-out event in Johannesburg in 2015 (see www.securitysa.com/7313r), Hi-Tech Security Solutions in cooperation with Rob Anderson will be hosting a full day conference covering residential estate security in Durban on 22 June 2016. The event will be held at the Durban Country Club from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm.

The conference will consider various aspects of estate security, highlight best practices that work, and identify where estates fall short and leave a gap for the criminal element.

Rob Anderson will start the conference with a presentation describing what an estate security plan should consist of. The subsequent presenters will break the plan down into various components, starting at the perimeter and moving in to the control room.

Each presenter will discuss the optimal solutions for the various aspects of estate security they focus on, including a presentation on how to integrate the data from all these different spheres and turn it into intelligence that helps estate security managers refine and improve their estate security plan to ensure they keep a step ahead of criminals.

Areas that will be covered include:

Best practices and working solutions in perimeter security,

• Insight into optical and thermal cameras and where each will deliver the best results,

• Using video analytics for improving security and reducing cost,

• Getting results from access control and visitor management solutions,

• Control room best practices,

• Dealing with manpower issues,

• The best ways of integrating technology and security personnel, and

• Turning security data from internal and external sources into intelligence.

At the end of the conference, Rob Anderson will return and put it all together as he provides an example of how estates can put together a workable security plan based on the information provided during the conference.

The cost to attend is R1200, which includes lunch, refreshments throughout the day as well as ample networking opportunities.
