Fashionable entrance to Centurion

April 2016 Access Control & Identity Management

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems met the requirements for a new entrance and exit solution at Centurion’s 107 000 m² super-regional shopping mall that is capable of safely handling continuous high pedestrian and trolley volumes.

Established in 1983 and situated in the heart of the Centurion CBD between Pretoria and Midrand, this open-aired Mall which boasts more than 200 stores and restaurants as well as 6100 parking bays, offers shoppers a unique and natural shopping experience.

The scope of supply from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems consisted of three Besam Bi-Parting SL500 sliding entrance and exit doors, as well as a Besam Single Slider SL500 sliding door mechanism complete with accessories.

The Besam Bi-parting door systems feature sensors that can be switched to an option of the user’s choice. The doors can for example be set to automatic for normal door operation to allow two-way traffic while the one-way setting allows passage from the inside only.

The doors can also be set to remain permanently open or closed while the auto-partial setting allows for partial opening during two-way traffic. The reset option will return the doors to the closed position after which the doors will function as normal. All sliding door operators are linked to the fire alarm systems for safety and easy evacuation.

The Besam doors successfully solved the mall’s daily problems of keeping birds and the weather (wind as well as summer heat and winter cold) outside and preventing the air conditioning from escaping to ensure a comfortable shopping experience. According to ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems MD, André Aiton, the Besam door systems ticked all the boxes for the Mall, delivering a high quality, safe value-for-money solution.

The Besam Bi-Parting SL500 doors carry a 12 month warranty which commences from the day of delivery. Regular service inspections are conducted by qualified technicians to ensure optimum operation. Furthermore, Besam’s flexible one-year maintenance contract can be extended every year.

In partnership with Govenders Aluminium and Glass, ASSA ABLOY completed the installation within two months of receiving the order.
