Xtralis released an upgrade to its XOa security operating system which enables ADPRO iFT NVR+ systems to double the number of video and analytics channels deployed without any hardware upgrade or added cost. Called the XOa Performance+ Pack, the upgrade delivers a 50% reduction in the cost per channel for pro-active and intelligent intrusion, loitering, and perimeter security. With a simple and free download from the Xtralis Xchange, existing ADPRO iFT customers can double the number of HD IP cameras and video content analytics they can deploy. The ADPRO iFT is designed for rapid scalability, in-field programming, and upgradability.

As a recent example of just one of many similar projects using an Xtralis iFT NVR, American Security installed a system of cameras and speakers on the rooftop at a building in Manhattan’s 'Murray Hill'. The system prevents after-hours loitering and late-night activity on the building’s rooftop.
Using an ADPRO iFT with IntrusionTrace and LoiterTrace analytics alerts American Security’s operators upon detecting an event, depending on the client’s design. Upon receipt of the signal, American Security operators connect live to the site via video and two-way audio, and engage directly with the trespasser to remove them from the roof area. If needed, the operator will dispatch police to the building. The application is effective at preventing loitering and trespassing threats and the megapixel clarity of images provide clients with a significantly enhanced interactive monitoring experience.
In addition to a doubling of video channels and analytics, the XOa Performance+ Pack also offers support for 6 TB hard disk drives, effectively doubling the capacity of an iFT to record video for forensic purposes. Xtralis also has optimised its IP audio capability to provide best-in-class 2-way audio to a site under protection. With an iFT running LoiterTrace and/or IntrusionTrace analytics and 2-way audio, all threats detected can be confronted immediately, with a near 100% threat avoidance rate.
VESDA protects the new £10 million Ricardo Vehicle Emissions Research Centre (VERC)
(Dublin, Ireland – 27 October 2015) Xtralis VESDA VLP and VLC aspirating smoke detectors are providing very early warning smoke detection for the Ricardo Vehicle Emissions Research Centre (VERC), a new facility for the development of next-generation of clean, low carbon vehicles located in Shoreham, UK. Ricardo is a global engineering, strategic and environmental consultancy, founded by Sir Harry Ricardo in 1915, sharing his vision for maximising efficiency and eliminating waste. VESDA by Xtralis is the world’s leading brand of aspirating smoke detectors (ASD).
The new Ricardo VERC features a brand new building with two vehicle test cells capable of testing passenger cars and light trucks of up to three tonnes, including advanced technology hybrid electric vehicles. The facility is climatically controlled with a temperature range of -35 to +55°C and helps Ricardo test new vehicles for a global market to far more extreme limits than would previously have been possible. Xtralis provides a wide range of safety and security solutions for vehicle research and retail applications.
UK fire prevention specialist Southern Fire Alarms (SFA) was selected by Ricardo, to provide reliable and resilient fire prevention at the landmark facility. While extreme temperature changes posed a huge challenge for reliable smoke detection, SFA delivered Xtralis VESDA VLP and VLC detectors.
“This project was the most technically challenging I have ever worked on,” commented David Fell, sales director at SFA. “The vehicle test cells needed to be protected by detection which could not only operate effectively in extreme cold temperatures, but also extreme heat as well. We deployed VESDA detectors and worked closely with the construction team to ensure the installation was faultless and a technically challenging project was delivered successfully,” Fell added.
