A new three-way initiative between Austen Security, Diebold and Standard Bank has seen a world-first product emerge on the South African market. Austen Security and Diebold have designed a high-security drawer system which allows customers to deposit bulk cash, cheques and coins into an AutoDeposit Machine (ADM) at selected Standard Bank branches. The transactions will not be limited to banking hours, allowing customers to deposit at their convenience. The deposits are protected by a custom-built Austen safe.
This innovative product is aimed at the small to medium size (SME) business entrepreneur, and initially 20 machines will be rolled out countrywide.
Another benefit of the ADM is that customer deposits are scanned by a barcode reader during the transaction and a receipt is issued as proof of the deposit complete with the barcode number, which was previously not possible.
Diebold South Africa is responsible for the service and maintenance of this equipment. The development of this product was fast-tracked from conception to market in a record 14 months.
