Name change at FST

November '99 News & Events

Fire Suppression Technologies has changed its name to reflect a truer understanding of the scope of its activities, with the adoption of its new name Fire and Security Techniques.

Fire Suppression Technologies was originally formed in 1994 as a specialist supplier of fire suppression gases and equipment. The launch of FST co-coincided with the introduction of NFPA 2001, the definitive code of practice for Approved Clean Air Extinguishing Agents.

In May 1998, FST took up the marketing of the DS Series range of exit devices. Also in May 1998 FST entered into agreement with Cardax New Zealand to market its range of SmartProx access control readers to the security trade. In July this year FST concluded negotiations with Cardax to market its Commander Centre range of access control equipment. In addition FST had also acquired the agency for the marketing of the software controlled Key Management system for Keytrak in the USA.

Says FST Director Neil Hughes Jnr, "The addition of security products was only taken on once we had a fully developed our range of suppression equipment under the banners of Ansul (USA) and Kidde International (UK). The name of Fire Suppression Technologies no longer defined our present activities thus the adoption of the name Fire and Security Techniques."
