C3 provides customised integrated solutions

September 2014 Integrated Solutions

C3 Shared Services specialises in the design and implementation of intelligent video, fire and perimeter security solutions. The company was started in 2006 by Brendon Cowley and Nick Grange and is located in Midrand, Gauteng. Both partners have been involved in providing integrated electronic solutions for more than two decades, bringing a comprehensive and extensive wealth of knowledge in providing effective and working perimeter security solutions for high risk and high value areas.

C3 employs between 40 and 50 employees, depending on its current projects. A variety of technical skills is leveraged and each employee receives ongoing training to ensure C3’s customers receive high-end service.

C3 has a long and successful history of providing high-tech integrated security solutions to both the South African and African market. Over the years, the company has found that the long-term success of its solutions do not only depend on the technology used and an effective installation, but also on the management of the solution over its lifespan. This is underlined by the fact that C3 represents a number of leading global brands and makes a point of choosing the best technology suited to each individual project. This combination of leading edge technology and best practices ensures a solution that works optimally for each individual client.

The company is able to provide systems integration on access control, thermal cameras, intelligent video analytics, long-range video outdoor fire detection, indoor video based fire detection, video based under vehicle inspection systems, and perimeter intrusion detection systems. According to Cowley, C3 does not distribute or sell boxed solutions, but rather installs the products as part of a comprehensive working solution for the client. This ensures the integrity of the product is maintained and that C3 can manage the installation as a whole. With over 90% of the services for a project being completed in house by C3, the control over a project is able to be monitored effectively.

C3 provides training, on-site repair and in-field service through its team of highly trained professionals. Cowley says that up-front training as well as the ongoing technical support is required to ensure that customer solutions operate at maximum efficiency. The company provides two types of maintenance agreements which complement each other and ensure that its systems run optimally. The preventative maintenance agreement entails regular servicing of systems while the maintenance plan is tailored to suit customer requirements and budget.

C3 is 30% black owned, is registered with both PSIRA and CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board), and holds numerous certifications as a system integrator of advanced security and fire systems. At present, the company is very active in the mining sector, rail and transportation, residential estates, power stations, national key-points, solar farms, and correctional facilities within southern Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.

Recent projects include implementation of a video-based fire detection system at a national key-point, which is the largest one of its kind in the world, and video based perimeter intrusion detection systems for an explosives manufacturer and PV plants.

“We recognise that our success depends on our flexibility, our ability to react to rapidly changing market conditions and opportunities and to remain innovative in meeting the changing demands of our environment. A well-designed security solution comprises many elements and C3 bridges the gap by applying best practices and current technology,” says Cowley.
