Criminals are continually improving their modus operandi in order to beat the system and find ways to up their illicit gains. To combat this never ending threat, security operatives also need to be in a process of continual improvement , updating processes and procedures to keep the criminals out no matter what they come up with.
As the saying goes, criminals only need to succeed once to win, while security needs to succeed every time. At iLegal 2014, set to be held on 5th August 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Rosebank, Johannesburg, Kevin van Zyl, divisional manager, security and risk management at the Lonmin Group will deliver a presentation on Taking security performance delivery to the next level - how process improvement works.
Drawing on years of experience, Van Zyl will discuss what process improvement is and how it can apply to security. He will also touch on what areas should be targeted and key factors in how to manage the process. And to prevent unrealistic expectations, he will explain what kinds of improvements can be expected, and the increase in capital returns that can be gained will be illustrated.
In this role at Lonmin, Van Zyl provides strategic direction for the development of the security risk management systems and is responsible for continuous business improvement. His area of specialisation is in forensic investigation into organised crime.
