Who cares about false alarms?

November 2013 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

“Dear Valued Client, your alarm is overactive and you will be charged from the 5th alarm at R150.00 per alarm. Please contact your technical department during office hours for assistance in solving your false alarms.”

Jan Alleman has had enough. His alarm system was completely new and installed by his current service provider. Even though Jan wasn’t allowed to turn on the beams during the day, he managed to use his alarm at night, but still was being charged for over active alarms. All sorts of birds, especially the hadedas, and the neighbour’s cat was Jan’s Achilles’ heel – no matter how high the beams are installed or at what sensitivity it is set – the false alarms just don’t stop.

Jan was questioning the alarm company, the equipment and the technical knowledge of his installer. It was time to move to a new service provider.

The new provider was not afraid, they did not have just another product, they had a solution. Jan was not interested in running new wires; his wiring was done when he moved in fifteen years ago. Although Jan believed in the value of having beams on his patio, he simply lost faith in their effectiveness thereof.

The new security company introduced him to Videofied. Seeing it was a complete wireless alarm, Jan needed not to be concerned of any wiring being done during the upgrade of his alarm system.

The recent road works causing power cuts was not a problem either since the Videofied alarm system was completely battery operated. Jan realised that this also applied to all his Eskom’s related issues including load sharing, sabotage or lightning damage that normally impacts his security.

The Videofied guys also explained that his pets may trigger the alarm but since the siren/strobe is activated remotely by the control centre, Jan will not have an annoying bell ringing during the night anymore. Videofied includes a 10 second video clip that is received in the control room along with the alarm. It allows the operator to verify the alarm at Jan’s house. Remote triggering of the siren will notify Jan and his neighbour of a true violation. The new armed response company could respond with more than one car should the video prove it is a crime in progress.

“Dear Service Provider,

I will no longer make use of your services. I have found a real security solution in my new security company with Videofied…”
