Abie Ali, director of Frank Street, also announced that the company is now distributing Pelco’s CCTV product range.

Mike Green, development engineer at Frank Street started the event with a presentation on the new retail management application, ROM.

Developed by Green, ROM stands for retail operations management, which is a software tool that enables the operator to use CCTV cameras for the dual purpose of security and operational management. This uses video analytics to monitor cashier performance, perform effective queue management, show customer flow patterns and measure sales conversion rates, amongst other features.

The newly-developed software manufactured by Stealth is a versatile CCTV solution. Green’s presentation talked about using specialised ways to eliminate shrinkage. POS, interfacing with ROM uses video analytics for shrinkage control and operational management. “Our goal is to improve retail operations by integrating software using specialised CCTV equipment such as high megapixel IP CCTV cameras for total security of your business and its assets,” said Green.

New products

Pelco’s Malcom Govender followed with an overview of the Pelco CCTV range, varying from megapixel cameras to specialised thermal cameras that Frank Street will be supplying to the market. He also highlighted the latest NVR (network video recorder), which is an open platform system that allows for more powerful video management. The Digital Sentry is a solution for HD and analogue recording.

Nuuo’s Shaun Savage then presented the NUUO NVRTitan and the latest developments from NUUO, including IP and analogue solutions. The NUUO Titan is an open platform high-megapixel recording and management system. It uses Linux embedded as its operating system and provides RAID functionality for data protection. With those features, NVRTitan’s 250 Mbps recording cannot only bring you an extreme recording ability (64 channels, 1.3 M, H.264, 10 fps), but with the most stable and safest data saving mechanism.

Forecourt intelligence

The event ended with a presentation from Neal Singh, CEO of Smartfuel, who demonstrated the company’s forecourt solution, including NUUO’s integration into SmartFuel’s solutions. The Text Overlay feature on CCTV cameras successfully monitors activities on fuel pumps and at any point of sale. Customer transactions can be traced from the pump, with licence plate details overlaid on the screen while the vehicle is fuelling, to the POS where the cashier processes the transaction.

This gives a visual audit trail that can retrieved and viewed instantly, making detection of fraudulent activities easier. The system also monitors vehicles entering and leaving the site and gives an analysis of site traffic peak periods.

Any suspicious activities can be traced back by search functions, by date, time, object, number plate, etc. The system manages customer time and flow patterns, thus making you aware of any suspicious activities. All connections are wireless and efficient for easy forecourt management and security. For more information on SmartFuel, visit www.smartfuel.co.za.

Frank Street also handed out awards to its top 10 customers, with Ntamo Technologies clinching the Best Customer award.
