Motivational presentation at ESDA luncheon

Mark Manley, popular corporate consultant and strategist, presented his motivational presentation, 'SA through the Wilderness' at ESDA's silver service luncheon and general meeting held in Johannesburg in July.

Manley confronted the Electronic Security Distributor's Association members and guests with his unconventionally positive perspective of the new South Africa.

"South Africa is a land of promise. It is up to us to choose whether it will be a promised land or a land of broken promises," says Manley.

A popular question in this country is whether there has been progression in South Africa's situation since 1994 or whether one form of oppression has simply been exchanged for another.

Manley's viewpoint, based on the extrapolation of results of a number of nationwide surveys conducted by reputable organisations, clearly shows that there is indeed plenty of 'good news' for the average South African and South African business.

South Africa - a microcosm of the world

"It may seem as though we have climbed a mountain only to find that there is a desert on the other side," he comments. "But there are lessons to be learnt in order for this transition to take place successfully."

South Africa is at an advantage in the globally competitive market in that we are 'a microcosm of the world'. We have a juxtaposition of both First and Third World countries. In other words we have different extremes functioning next to each other - extreme poverty on the one side, and extreme wealth on the other. This gives us insight into the global market.
