Stanley Security Solutions: integrated infrastructure offering

April 2012 Integrated Solutions

Stanley Security Solutions, which became an EOH company in November 2011, started as TR Services in 1948. Today the company employs more than 230 people and has offices in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.

EOH and Stanley have drawn from the input gained during each acquisition the company has experienced. This includes the rental element introduced in its original formation, as well as the sales and technical service capabilities garnered whilst under the management of Blick PLC UK and Stanley Black & Decker.

EOH has three distinct divisions: Outsourced, Technologies and Consulting. Stanley Security Solutions operates under the Technology division. “Our acquisition by a company with a strong IT base allows EOH to offer customers a symbiotic product base. With the increasing emphasis on the convergence of IT and security functions, we are well positioned to offer our clients a tailored and synergistic solution,” says Mike Lotter, MD of Stanely Security Solutions. “This extends to the ability to provide complete building management systems configured to suit customer demands and application-specific requirements.”

With a customer base exceeding 3500 active customers, Stanley is active in the supply of solutions in the security, access control, surveillance, communications, time management and information technologies arena, throughout Africa. The call centre is available on a 24-hour basis to ensure quick response to customer requests.

“We have our own proprietary Access and Time & Attendance solution, called S-QUBE, but also source a number of third party products. Offsite redundant control rooms in Johannesburg and Cape Town provide clients with the assurance that their valuable assets are being monitored around the clock,” says Lotter.

The company subscribes to the EOH mission to form life-long partnerships by developing business and IT strategies, supplying and implementing solutions and managing enterprise-wide systems and processes for medium to large clients.

“This is achieved by attracting, developing, retaining and training the best people in all our chosen skill sets,” says Lotter.

Lotter believes that one of the company’s biggest differentiators is the ability to offer a complete solution to clients. “From the conceptualisation stage, through to the design of the system, choice of suitable technologies, installation and commissioning of the project, coupled with ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the system as well as superior aftermarket service, we link everything seamlessly together and ensure that our clients need to deal with only one company.”

Lotter explains that Stanley has three identified solutions: Workforce Technologies (time and attendance), Facility Convergence (building management systems and integrated solutions) and Rental Solutions (universal rental/finance solutions which have been primarily for IT and communications infrastructures).

The company aligns itself with reputable security and building management product providers and boasts the largest number of installed Morpho biometric readers in the world. “Our customer base is diverse and includes a number of blue chip clients. However, perhaps our biggest achievement is the acceptance by the mines of our time and attendance products. The unions are typically very wary of biometric fingerprint readers, but we have managed to win their favour and we currently have products installed at key locations,” says Lotter.
