Metrofile Bloemfontein expands

October 2011 News & Events

JSE-listed information and records management business Metrofile has recently relocated and opened its new purpose-built Bloemfontein branch in Estoire to cater for a growing client base.

Keith Blackwell, GM for Metrofile Second Tier Cities, says that over the past 10 years, Bloemfontein has evolved into a thriving business hub due to its central location in South Africa. In addition, the Free State province has also benefitted from improved infrastructure post the successful hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and includes, among others, road upgrades, stadium upgrades and new transport systems.

“In order to cater for this growth Metrofile Bloemfontein has erected a new custom-built facility of 1500-square metres with additional space on the property to erect two further structures of the same footprint. The new facility provides storage space for a total of 150 000 boxes, as well as space for an extended office component for increased support service requirements.”

Blackwell says that the new facility also allows for improved service offerings to the Bloemfontein business sector. “A larger vault has been installed for the storage of backup tapes and media and the image processing operation has been fully upgraded with more advanced technology and devices, with room for growth to handle increased capacity.”

He adds that the branch’s information technology infrastructure has also been enhanced with additional capacity to service internal data requirements as well as client-hosted solutions.

Blackwell says that creating employment and developing local skill levels has also been a key objective for the company. “To date, we have only employed local community members at our Bloemfontein branch and this trend has continued through to our new branch’s construction, whereby we only utilised local contractors.
