ADT triumphs

October 2011 News & Events

ADT’S Northern Region team came out tops as the South African Intruder Detection Services Association’s (SAIDSA) Reaction Man Challenge 2011 champions.

The challenge, which took place at the Zwartkop Raceway and the nearby SWAT shooting range on 17 August, saw ADT’s five man team consisting of Raymond Raseleso, Absalom Tswai, Immanuel Kock, Jannie Kleynhans and Cornelius Johannes Brits pushing themselves to the limit to out-shoot, out-run and out-drive previous winner EPR to claim the title and trophy.

SAIDSA, the industry watchdog to all local security service providers, holds the competition annually as a way for rival teams from around the country to compete in categories seen as key in determining high performance levels in the field. Each team of five – four competing members and one substitute – compete in a target shooting exercise, a physical fitness test and a precision driving challenge. Each member is judged in each category and points are awarded based on individual performance. All the points for each team member are tallied to determine the overall winning team.

This year saw 12 teams from various security providers travelling from as far as Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Secunda and Bloemfontein to compete in the challenge. “The competition this year was very tough,” says Edward Madisha, ADT team manager. “All 12 teams were hungry for a win but our extra efforts and focus paid-off and a big congratulations must go to the team as well as our three tactical trainers who worked very hard to ensure our officers were physically and mentally ready to compete.”
