Mustek give security distributors notice

July 2011 News & Events

If there are any people in the industry that still think this convergence thing is all hype and that IT will never infringe upon the security market, well known IT distributor Mustek is about to burst your bubble. The company recently launched (or relaunched, depending on who you ask) Mustek Security Technologies (MST).

MST is dedicated to serving the security market, distributing a range of products from recognised brands. On the evening of the launch, attendees heard from two of MST’s brands, JVC and Mobotix, both respected brands in the surveillance market. MST will be hitting the surveillance market with these two IP ranges in the near future, however it will also sell JVC’s analogue products.

Sergio Pedregal will be heading up MST as it takes on the established security distributors. Given Mustek’s long and successful experience in the IT distribution market, the move is sure to raise an eyebrow or two. It knows how to move and support products en masse.

While the focus at the launch was on JVC and Mobotix, and their impressive demonstration areas at the event, attendees could also see what Dedicated Micros is offering in its twin colour and thermal camera solution. We expect to hear more from the company in the near future.

Hi-Tech Security Solutions also heard that Tyco’s CEM access control solutions is also likely to be available from MST in the near future, as are Axis cameras – although we still need confirmation on these brands.

Hi-Tech Security Solutions will be speaking to Pedregal in the near future to find out more about MST and what it wants to achieve and how he intends to achieve it. Watch this space.
