Loftus leaves Norbain SA

July 2011 News & Events

The industry reacted with surprise at the news that Norbain SA MD, John Loftus has resigned in order to pursue other interests. In an interview with Hi-Tech Security Solutions, Loftus said the time was right for him to leave the company and move onto fresh challenges after many years at the helm.

The Norbain Group CEO, Alun John joined Loftus in the interview. He assured customers that while it was sad to see Loftus go, the team he had built over the years at Norbain was very well equipped to carry on the business until a new MD can be found. He also stressed that the decision to leave was made by Loftus without pressure from the company.

Norbain SA’s technical director, Ettiene Swanepoel is also leaving the company in a few months to join Loftus in a new venture. Once again, John expressed his disappointment at the resignation, but again added that the local team is strong and will keep on serving customers as always.

Norbain has embarked on a process of finding appropriate replacements. In the interim, Alun John and Norbain’s current FD, Lukas Rautenbach will keep the ship sailing until the new candidate is brought on board.

The Norbain Group has been through some trying times over the past few years, but has emerged stronger than before and posted healthy revenue and profit growth in the last financial year. There was a hiatus in the local market after the euphoria of the Soccer World Cup, but the industry is now in a growth phase again and Norbain SA is actively recruiting new staff.

Customers should therefore expect no changes in Norbain’s service levels or product scope. John says the local entity is successful in its own right and there are no plans for drastic changes. The company’s product distribution and value-added distribution services will continue as usual.

Hi-Tech Security Solutions wishes Loftus and Swanepoel well and will keep readers informed as to their new venture.
