New D2 Turbo sliding gate operator

Centurion’s D2 Turbo domestic sliding gate operator was launched in March 2011 at Zwartkops International Raceway near Pretoria, South Africa.

The launch was packed with approximately 450 of the most influential business leaders in the security and access automation industry. Centurion Systems’ marketing and sales director, Richard Rohman, delivered a slick presentation of the new D2 Turbo showcasing its cutting edge design and amazingly quick performance. This was followed by face to face product demonstrations where guests could touch, feel and play with the D2 Turbo operators and pick the brains of the design engineers that were on hand throughout the day.

Adam Butchart, marketing manager, explained that the reason behind choosing the venue for the launch (a race track) stemmed from one of the most pertinent features of the D2 Turbo – speed. Although the D2 Turbo operator has many industry-leading attributes, its speed is certainly one of the major draw cards.

So why is speed so important? To get maximum security and greater convenience. The faster your access automation system can let you into your property and close behind you the less time you are a sitting duck in your driveway patiently waiting for opportunistic criminals to relieve you of your possessions.

And like any other automation product, you would want to just press a button and have your device take care of the business quickly and efficiently. Imagine if the electric window of your car slowly crawled open and closed, it would drive you mad. Centurion has recognised the need for speed and addressed this with their gate automation products. The D2 Turbo runs at a blistering 24 metres per minute. Which in gate automation terms is fast, and by far the fastest running operator in its class! Most competitor products top out at about 18 metres per minute or less.

The D2 Turbo is an affordable solution for automating sliding domestic entrance gates weighing up to 250 kg. Its slogan ‘Speed, Style, Simplicity!’ really does sum up the product. Not only is its performance unrivalled in its class, but it has a modern, high quality appearance with construction to match. In addition, the user interface is just so simple. All of the operator’s settings, operating profiles and modes are quickly set up using just two dials and a pushbutton. It has a modular construction with all major components just clicking together. In fact there are only 11 screws used in the manufacturing of this product. The benefit of this is that it allows for superfast installation and maintenance.

The operator also boasts adaptive collision sensing (to help ensure that loved ones do not get hurt), reliable battery backup and electrical spike protection to protect against lightning strikes and power surges. It has many operating profiles and includes Centurion’s world first PIRAC Beam Autoclose Mode, Holiday Lockout Mode, Pedestrian Opening Mode and Positive Close Mode.

The D2 Turbo is built compact, but tough. Advanced engineering polymers and smart design combine to create an operator that runs for over 30 000 cycles. That is around 10 years of moving an average domestic gate! It also has an onboard multichannel receiver with rolling code remote control security. Being so compact, minimal materials were used for construction and it is almost 100% recyclable. And for added peace of mind it comes with a 24 month warranty.
