The future of security under one rool

April 2011 News & Events

As the security landscape expands new ideas and product innovations are fundamental. It is the responsibility of the security professional to remain one step ahead, so the opportunity to explore advanced products with industry-changing capabilities is not to be missed.

Security professionals from across the globe will descend on IFSEC 2011, the world’s largest annual security event, as it returns to NEC Birmingham, UK, from the 16-19 May. Now in its 38th edition, IFSEC has been the platform for numerous technological developments and product launches since its inception; providing the first opportunity for the international security profession to see new security products brought to life.

Visitors from all disciplines within the security market can expect to engage with key decision makers and industry experts and network with top-tier security professionals at this premier industry event.

Typical of the IFSEC events, the extensive IFSEC 2011 conference programme promises to feature a cutting edge, educational and informative line-up. Running alongside the exhibition, the IFSEC Conference is comprised of a totally-revamped modular programme where experienced end-users and respected security professionals will share their insights into the industry best practice and the successful application of the latest technologies.

The series modules, aimed at security managers, directors and professionals have been designed to encourage networking and engagement in thought provoking debate. Delegates are set to learn about the advances in security technology and how it is being applied in practice by an impressive line-up of expert speakers. The Conference programme will feature:

* Four industry vertical modules – retail, financial services, utilities and transport.

* Overarching focus on technology – IP-based security, CCTV, thermal imaging, converged systems.

* Cyber-terrorism – what it means for businesses and how to make cost-effective plans.

* Addressing the convergence of physical security and IT security.

* A high level keynote panel discussing the regulation of the industry in a post-SIA world.

The extensive IFSEC exhibition returns for 2011, including a number of exciting features. The exhibition will be divided into six product area categories: Access Control; CCTV; Intruder Alarms; Integrated Security/IP & Network Security; Public Security; Security Solutions; ensuring that security products are thoroughly represented:

A key feature of the IFSEC exhibition is the Intelligent Integration Zone. Following its successful introduction last year, The Intelligent Integration Zone returns to IFSEC 2011.

Sponsored by Integrated Security Manufacturing (ISM), specialists in the manufacture and development of graphical security control management systems, the Intelligent Integration Zone is a must for any security professional responsible for handling the security of an organisation. ISM together with its six zone partners will be demonstrating how Genesys, its own integration software, integrates perimeter protection, video surveillance, digital CCTV recording, access control, intruder alarms and alarm/call strips.

The international feel of IFSEC is compounded throughout the international pavilions where Belgium (returning for its second year at IFSEC) Canada, China, France, Italy, Korea, Taiwan and the USA will be showcasing a variety of the latest industry products and developments from across the globe.

Furthermore, the Future of Security Competition, a brand new feature for IFSEC 2011 will aim to find the next generation security innovations. Run in association with Global Security Challenge, an organisation known for its impressive track record as a central hub for security innovators, start-ups, investors and events around the globe, competitors will compete against each other in a live judging session at IFSEC.

This exciting competition is open to researchers, innovators, universities and SMEs worldwide, entrants must present a technological innovation that can be used to prevent, defend against, recover from or cope with any kind of terrorist incidents or other criminal acts.

IFSEC 2011 is co-located with The Facilities Show, Safety & Health Expo and International Firex.
