Tyco goes dancing

March 2011 News & Events

Tyco Security Products and the brands falling under the Tyco banner have a good reputation in the South African security market, having been represented by a number of companies over the years.

Late in 2010 Tyco Security Products launched a direct presence in the region, with Ernest Mallett and Konrad Weinert representing the company in South Africa. The company has been working on expanding its presence for several months and celebrated its progress in mid February by inviting a number of end-users and consultants to meet two of its partners and get to know the range of products Tyco will be promoting in South Africa.

Mallett started by introducing the company and the products it will specifically focus on in Africa. These include the range of American Dynamics surveillance solutions, as well as access control products that will suit any organisation, including those from CEM Systems, Kantech, C-Sure and DSC. There are, of course, other products already in circulation in South Africa, such as Bentel, which have made a name for themselves over the years.

Elvey Security Technology (which has been in the security distribution business for decades) was up next as a distributor and partner of Tyco products as well as the newly formed Elvey Projects division. Elvey projects was, as the name suggests, was put together to focus on larger project work and supporting system integrators. It it headed by Johan Crause, responsible for new business development, and Bonny Pedra, key accounts manager.

Following Elvey, Tim Timmins introduced Stanley Security Solutions, another company committed to being a Tyco integration partner. Stanley, as most people in the industry know, comes with its own long track record in the local and international market and is set to make inroads using Tyco products in large-scale projects.

After the introduction, the attendees and their partners, including Hi-Tech Security Solutions, were treated to a dinner at the luxurious Southern Sun Monte Casino Hotel, followed by a performance of the spectacular Riverdance.
