FLIR systems, a world leader in the design and manufacturing of thermal imaging cameras has announced the appointment of TeleEye S.A. as a distributor of FLIR commercial security products for commercial security and surveillance applications. The distribution agreement allows TeleEye to distribute FLIR commercial products to the southern, central and east African regions.

TeleEye S.A. is a South African-based surveillance solutions distributor specialising in local and remote video alarm verification, perimeter protection and intrusion detection solutions. TeleEye offers training, pre-sales support, distribution and servicing of FLIR commercial security products to the dealer channel.

In accordance with our policy of being a solutions-based value added distributor, the ability to offer FLIR products now greatly strengthens our solutions, particularly in perimeter and intrusion detection solutions where both TeleEye and FLIR products have been widely used.

“The addition of the FLIR products significantly increase the effectiveness of our security solutions, due to the limitations conventional optical surveillance cameras present,” says Philip Smerkovitz, MD TeleEye S.A.

Unlike all other night vision systems, FLIR thermal imaging cameras need no light whatsoever to function because they rely on minute differences in thermal radiation to produce high contrast thermal images. Not only does this mean that FLIR thermal imaging cameras can see in complete darkness, they also allow you to see clearly when obscurants such as smoke, dust and light fog render your normal vision useless.

One daylight advantage FLIR thermal imaging cameras have over regular CCTV cameras is that the latter can be blinded by direct or reflected sunlight. FLIR thermal imaging cameras don’t have that problem.
