Management solutions provider

Remote locations do not deny companies' access to state-of-the-art technology. The latest integrated systems installation by Intervid, the listed visual technology company, illustrates some of the challenges overcome, to offer clients the best-integrated security and management solutions.

Intervid systems incorporate vital components for a comprehensive asset protection plan. The integrated solution has particular advantages in industries eg mining which require a high security zone protection. For example:

* Operators are managed by the system, which makes random selections on staff searches.

* While mine management can augment the system, they cannot interrupt it. In other words, supervisors may request additional searches to those required by the system, but cannot override the random search request.

* Adoption of this 'arm's length' solution minimises intimidation, and collaboration.

According to Intervid good relationships are established over a period of time spent working together, and form the cornerstone of the operating process. Starting with the original design of the system, to customer specifications, an extensive period of investigation and consultation leads to design presentation and agreement. Installation is supported with a maintenance agreement that ensures the best interests of the client are catered for in the fast moving field of technology.

Smarts

Smart technology software ensures that all events are random, recorded and audited. Within seconds, the required selection of events can be isolated and studied for detail, providing clients with evidence that is documented and specific.

The independent central control room, situated off site, is the nerve centre. Remote control of cameras all over the site, enhance control as well as productivity. This management tool includes:

* Intervid front end: a 'black box' that records and details the 'flight path' of the drivers of the system.

* Time and attendance/admission: details required by the client can be recorded on smartcards that are swiped, as admission is required to different zones. Verification and authorisation as well as record and surveillance are built in.

* Face recognition: ensures that there is no borrowing of cards, or cribbing systems.

* Number plate recognition: vehicle access control taps into the same range of sophisticated software tools as selected by the client.

* Manpower tracking: at any point, man tracker enables detailed information about the whereabouts of personnel, especially important to have quick access to in the event of accidents.

In addition, Intervid has a Research and Development team, whose expertise brings international exposure and experience to local applications. This provides client security in a range of specialist skills, and the capacity for development into the future. Furthermore, the company's installation teams are on hand to ensure that the teething period is as painless as possible.
