Residential estate or golf estate perimeter boundaries generally require long lengths of fence. The fence should provide the user or control authority with a cost-effective method of detecting and monitoring movements and intrusions so that necessary countermeasures are taken should intrusions occur.
Due to the difficult environment in which these fences are installed, it is not always feasible to employ detection devices out in the field. These require regular maintenance and are exposed to the elements, which further reduce their effective lifetime. In addition, these devices are primarily deployed as passive detectors and have no deterrent value at all.
These devices are also easily stolen, damaged and tampered with by intruders who, having disabled the device, obtain free undetected passage across fences until such time as they are repaired or replaced. Repair and replacement costs and the general upkeep of such fence systems reduce reliability and availability of the detection facilities in such systems.
With the Grintek Ewation Electrifier (SFE2000), an electrified zone of up to 20 km in length can be energised with a single unit. Typically the electrified loop has from 2 to 12 wires that determine the length of the zones. All systems are configured according to the environment and the needs of the end-user.
This system can withstand harsh terrain and weather conditions and compensate automatically for rain and foggy conditions. All electronic equipment and devices are installed in the control centre and not in the field.
At the Control Room the following equipment is found: SFE2000 Fence electrifier, Control PC running the Windows-based Control Application and the Fence HT interface wires for connection to Fence Electrifier.
The following functions are provided using the Control PC running the Control Application:
* Visual indication on a geographically correct map of SFE2000 status and fence alarms.
* Logging of all relevant alarm conditions, device status changes and control actions to the configured MS Access database.
* Visual indication of fence operational status for maintenance purposes.
* User access management to allow different users to control, debug and configure the system.
* Report generation of all relevant fence and system event data.
The SFE2000 electrified security fence system has been tried and tested at various installations worldwide. It provides a cost-effective solution for detecting intrusions into a secured area. With the early detection of intruders, secondary measures can be put into action to identify and apprehend intruders.
This system can also be used for international border fence security, airports, power stations, prisons, industrial sites and all high-secured areas.
